It’s almost never pleasant to lag behind others, especially those we consider similar. Conventional wisdom tells us to stop competing with others and to compete with ourselves only. But that’s easier said than done!
So is it possible to harness the positive benefits of competition without suffering from the insecurity it brings along? You might find yourself wondering how to put your competition and insecurity to good use.
And that’s exactly what Alana Parks’, a creative digital marketer and owner of POST Inc., life story teaches!
Alana grew up in San Diego, CA, where though the weather is perfect pretty much all the time but what life had in store for Alana was completely the opposite. She is the eldest of 3 sisters, and all of them grew up in a single-mother household. Alana founded POST Inc. in Houston in 2018 and is currently based in Manhattan, NY, with a virtual team in the US and the UK.
Her whole life, she felt like she was playing “keep up” with her peers. However, she admits that her mom did everything she could for them.
If you had asked Alana 5 years ago where she thinks she would be now, she never would have said that she would be having her own creative digital marketing agency in Manhattan. And you wouldn’t find it hard to believe since she worked with one of the most lucrative businesses in America, i.e., Cosmetic & Plastic Surgery Practices.
Frankly speaking, she never wanted to be an entrepreneur or be her boss as she truly didn’t think she was cut out for it.
But it was in early 2017 that she lost her job and didn’t have a choice but to find something that could help her pay the bills quickly. Alana realized it was great growing her side hustle into a full-time job and quickly building a 6 figure team around her.
Despite the odds, Alana has built a digital community of 50,000+ small business owners. Recently, Alana partnered with the largest, fastest-growing social media platform to help coach small business owners on social media marketing.
Besides, she also has had the honor to speak alongside billionaires Mark
Cuban and Sally Krawcheck at a 2021 financial summit for young entrepreneurs.
As Jack Ma says, “Never give up. Today is hard, tomorrow will be worse, but the day after tomorrow will be sunshine.”
So it’s important to stay true to yourself while always being open to learning. Never give up on your dreams, even when nobody else believes they can come true but you, and work with all your strength to make them a reality. And one day, you will!
