It wasn’t too long ago when Jim Becker decided to quit his job at the Norix Group and make a fresh start for himself. Back then, he was 27 years old and full of creativity and enthusiasm; an amalgamation of these two characteristics soon inspired him to try his luck in business. Thus, in the year 1997, Jim Becker established a logistics company known as “Becker Logistics.”
Re-entering the field, Jim had a rocky start. He began questioning his ability to steer his company in the right direction. Nonetheless, Becker remained steadfast and dismissed any pessimistic thoughts that crossed his mind and some took hold and lodged for a while. Soon after, Jim’s determination started to pay off when the company achieved countless milestones within a short period of time. Jim was able to acquire two multi-million dollar companies. “The first was a $20 million company in 2017, the second a $45 million company in 2021,” he stated.
On May 16, 2023, Becker Logistics celebrated 26 years of remarkable service. The company is expected to decrease their topline revenue by 14.7% with an estimated gross revenue of $150 million by the end of the year, which is a landmark achievement given the deflationary market we’ve been in. Jim and his team were able to keep that number at 14.7% versus some astronomical numbers that we’ve heard of being greater than 20% or even more. Jim stated, “Yes our budget, our goals, our targets all had to be adjusted on account of the deflationary market we were in. It could have been a lot worse if each team member didn’t see what was missing. We were able to identify things quickly and make adjustments and to get to a successful level of performance through effective leadership. Not to mention some great employees!”
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to state that Jim Becker, along with his exceptional team, has mastered the art of developing effective supply chain solutions. The company’s innovative technology, Jim’s proficiency in the field, and customers attracted to Becker’s service will ensure that Becker Logistics continues to move ahead on a positive trajectory.
Jim Becker’s entrepreneurial spirit is further projected in his philanthropic ventures, which include Jenna’s Foundation, Humanity for the Homeless, and the Becker Logistics social promise.
The Becker Logistics social promise was established at the start of 2021 and it is to donate $1 for every load that Becker Logistics ships. This initiative has raised over $100 thousand dollars for those in need since its start for communities all around the Chicagoland area.
Seeing someone use their skills to help make this world a better place is a breath of fresh air. Jim Becker’s commitment to helping others reminds us that nothing will change until we decide to and that our actions show that we do.
