One doesn’t achieve a milestone by merely wishing and waiting for it to happen. It requires a combination of undivided focus, steadfast energy, relentless efforts, firm discipline, and unwavering commitment. Michael Ferrera, now a renowned fashion designer and entrepreneur, strongly believes in the power of commitment and its role in one’s success.
“Commitment and discipline,” said Michael when he was asked about the factors he would attribute his success to. He believes that committing to something like entrepreneurship is not plain sailing and comes with hard times, difficult deadlines, and sometimes people leaving your company unexpectedly. “It’s hard to accept that, but if you know the power of commitment and discipline, you will wriggle out of such a situation completely unscathed,” he further said.
Michael knows the business very well. It is because he has run a plethora of businesses from the age of 12 years. He has seen almost every upside and downside and every ebb and flow of the company and has been through all stages a business goes through before touching the pinnacle of success.
The primary interest of Michael lies in the fashion industry, but mistaking him for only a fashion designer won’t do us any good. A quick scan of his life to date suggests that he has been a hustler from an early age.
When Michael was 12 years old, he used to sell door-to-door products and render personalized services in exchange for some fees. Two years later, he started managing his father’s music company and assisted in operations. Starting to work at an age many kids consider playing games on the PlayStation or computer or doing homework, Michael grasped the fundamentals of business in his early teens. He would later exert experience gained from this period to establish his next successful companies.
For example, Maestro Tech. It was Michael’s first clothing line and the first step toward chasing his dream of being a fashion designer. In Maestro Tech, he used to design shirts, jeans, and sweatsuits using his creative mind. Although the company wasn’t an instant success, later, people loved the creative choices Maestro Tech was offering, and the company caught the spotlight.
At the time, Michael was studying business economics at the University of California as well as running a disc jockey business. Now merging studies with two other businesses wasn’t a cup of tea, but he was committed because he had bigger reasons.
At age 26, Michael sold the DJ company to start what we know today as his main course of business: The Michael Ferrera Brand.
Since the start of this high-level fashion brand, Michael has not looked back. He’s always busy finding new ways to master his art and improving the business along the way. Ever since he comprehended the value of commitment and discipline, Michael has only prospered.
