Choice, not chance, determines one’s destiny. Decisions, no matter big or small, are the building blocks that shape our reality.
It is a harsh reality that in our world, only winners are glorified. On the other hand, failure is often frowned upon.
This distorts reality because many come to think that those who succeed are always successful. This causes us to miss the underside of the iceberg.
Success is only 10% of the whole process that led to success. The bulk consists of failures that are invisible to the majority.
Everyone fails at some point in life.
Elon Musk, one of the greatest entrepreneurs of our time, says: “Failure is an option here. If things are not failing you’re not innovating.
Sameer Sawaqed, who successfully runs a mentorship podcast “The More We Know” and empowers people by mentoring them. He eventually trained himself to leverage the power of social media and documented his weight loss journey to inspire and motivate others.
A courageous step indeed!
And his journey, in his own words, has been a roller coaster. He has gotten his podcast to a top 10% ranking, lost 100 pounds, created some of the biggest clubs in the clubhouse, and has been advancing in his corporate career. All the while creating success in his brand.
And like many of us, Sameer suffered from anxiety. The anxiety of being average! But instead of letting his anxiety and fear defeat him, he used that fear to motivate him to take small steps every day. He confesses that he is like the rest of us. And it is a reality that no one likes failure.
Sameer too, like the majority of us, didn’t like to fail in life. One of his biggest failures was losing the majority of his stock investments last year during the ongoing pandemic.
But what sets Sameer apart from the masses is that instead of losing heart, he saw
his failure as an opportunity that taught him so much about emotion, investing, gambling, and discipline.
Sameer shows us that there is a shame when you don’t realize your full potential and stay in your comfort zone. You must be one of those who dare to step out of this zone by considering failures as a foundation for future great success.
Be ambitious, dare to exceed your limits, work hard, accept failures, be resilient in trying to improve next time, and you, like Sameer, will achieve great success someday and compound the success over time for sure.
