Recognize your passion
To be truly successful in any pursuit, even one that you enjoy, often requires a lot of effort. If you don’t love what you are doing to begin with, you’ll never have the grit or tenacity to persevere during the challenging times. You must love it enough, to want to learn the most you can, and be the best -or at least become an expert. Without passion, it is very difficult to sustain the energy needed to succeed. So pick something you love.
Become an Expert
Invest your time. It takes 10,000 hours to become an “expert” at anything. Success does’t happen overnight. It takes time to learn and perfect your craft. If you love it enough, you really won’t mind- it will be fun! Invest in learning first, whether this is taking a course, getting a degree, becoming an apprentice, or taking a job that may not pay you as much as you want, but can potentially give you valuable experience. For example- want to open a restaurant? Get at job at one first and work your way up for a few years. Learn as much as you can. Once you are an “expert” you can truly help others- through teaching, or by providing a needed service or product. Then all your experience becomes monetizable.
Have a general idea of what you want, but don’t get overly fixated. Because life is full of unexpected twists and turns, many of which may present you with possibilities you never expected. Sometimes when we begin a path, life opens up other paths, that perhaps are even better than the one you imagined. If you are adaptable, you will take advantage of opportunies that come your way. You will acquire experience, which will be beneficial to you.
These three tips will assist you in turning your life into meaningful work. You perform significantly better when you do a job that you enjoy. If you do this, you will be able to leave your ordinary existence behind and enjoy a life that is far more meaningful.
