Louise Houghton is not just any ordinary media person. She is an enigmatic TV host and a popular broadcast journalist who has worked with big names like SkySports, Samsung, ESPN and has hosted DWTV’s (German multilingual TV news network) daily live lifestyle magazine show, EUROMAXX for seven years. Hailing from a seaside town in the south of the UK, Louise moved to London and began her career as a broadcast journalist.
“I got into hosting after working as a production assistant for a company in the UK. They specialized in extreme sports and after a trip to Hong Kong on a project, I said to the producer -” I want to be in front of the camera!” I had trained as an actress so this was a different skill – actually looking down the barrel and talking to the audience – something you never do when acting! But I am a warm, friendly, and professional person and I knew I could do a good job.”
Her first job didn’t come quite that simple but she was determined to do it and her spectacular career as a host has taken her across the world, hosting live events, launch shows, press conferences, award shows, and panel discussions. She is not limited to specific topics of discussion however her favorite remains all things related to sustainability.
Louise is highly appreciative of nature. Like all creative souls, she understands the beauty that lies in all things natural and raw. For her, spending time in nature is the perfect way to unwind, relax and keep yourself grounded. Her love for nature, coupled with her love for interviewing those who help to make a positive impact in this world for future generations resulted in her creating her own production company, ECODA Media.
“I am currently doing a course on sustainability at the University of Illinois virtually so I can learn more and I also have a few movies that I am developing that hold an underlying message on these topics and I believe they will all fall into place when the time is right.”
Using ECODA Media as a platform to push for a more sustainable planet is her ultimate goal. The production company is specifically created to specialize in environmental content to generate awareness and sponsor the change that is highly needed in the current age and era. “Let’s not be wasteful, let’s recycle; let’s use less plastic and hold businesses accountable for not doing so, let’s travel more economically and take more meeting on zoom; let’s compost – the methane gas problem is not talked about enough; let’s eat less red meat as it’s the largest contributor to climate change, and let’s spread the word on how each individual’s actions CAN make a difference.”
Louise recently hosted an event for the E1 series – a new electric powerboat racing series that aims to raise awareness of how our oceans and sea life are in danger and how going electric can revolutionize marine mobility. This is just one of the many projects Louise aims to work on in this space. She has worked with the European Space Agency for 7 years helping launch the satellites in their earth observation program. She has also worked on their tri-annual event Living Planet Symposium which will be held once again in 2022.
